Honda Prelude 2.2 VTEC 4WS 2d (1995/M) Owner Review
-
Economy
Value
Reasonable to buy.
Costs
Insurance companies (group 17) are responsible for the score. Servicing is reasonable.

On the road
Driving
Handling was spot on, but look at my reliability comments.
Performance
Past 5000rpm, open the windows and enjoy.
-
Living with it
Reliability
Generally unburstable but as a consequence when they do go wrong (my 4-wheel steering has) dealers struggle to identify the problem and they cost a fortune to fix (ca.£2000).
Image
Fourth generation Prelude still looks attractive to me.
Comfort
Actually five stars in the front and no stars in the back.

Security and Service
Security
Fit a reliable alarm to back up the standard immobiliser.
Service
The dealers are generally good, but Honda UK aren't.

Problems and Ownership

4-wheel steering - possibly (but not guaranteeably) down to a faulty ECU, which is £1800 to replace.
