Hyundai i10 Hatchback (2008 - 2013) 1.2 Active 5d Owner Review
Want to know everything there is to know about this car?
In their own words
On the whole it’s not a bad car, and knowing the previous owner it has been well treated and driven with care. Saying that I do have a couple of points that I don’t like and one in particular that really gets u set my skin. Firstly when dropping the back seats, it is difficult to lift the seat bases so you can make a flat load deck, other than that the available load space is quite large considering the size of the car. Another quibble I have is that after only 28000 miles it has a knock from the front suspension that shouldn’t be there. This seems to be a common problem that many owners have complained about, I do hope to find the cause, hopefully sooner rather than later. Now my main hate for this car, and I’m afraid it is one that would stop me from purchasing another one or in fact another Hyundai car, is the “Hyundai feature” of throttle drop lag, this is when you take your foot off the accelerator to change gear the revs don’t drop immediately as you would expect, and the engine revs remain too high for the next gear making it sound like you don’t know how to drive. This as I’ve said is a Hyundai feature and is done to reduce emissions by not shutting the throttle quickly and it is controlled by the engine management unit. I find it annoying and unnecessary and I wouldn’t purchase another Hyundai for this reason alone. Tyres going down due to bead leaks and porous alloy rims are also an annoyance, including the lack of any spare wheel, Jack or wheel brace to keep the weight down. Ok I’ve said what I don’t like, so I guess I should mention it’s good points. It is Economical and it is great for around town although I have been on a few good runs in it and it has performed well, but you do know you have driven a distance in it, with Plenty of storage space if needed and a quite comfortable driving position it is no wonder it receives good reviews for a small car. As a town car it’s a definite yes, as a distance car then maybe it’s a no, but it will do it, just don’t push it. It is a lightweight car made with good mpg for mainly town/city travel, and at that it takes a bit of beating. I might update when I find the cause of the suspension rattle, it’s not serious but it is annoying and is likely to take a while to find it.
Does the car do everything you expected it to do?
I didn’t expect too much from this car and I only purchased it as a nippy around town car, which it is ideally suited for.About their car
