Summary
What does this car say about you?
It says that I am sensible and appreciate value, although for some this isn't very desirable image. Still, the Hyundai brand is growing in popularity, and I much prefer driving this to the older cars I've driven before. It feels grown-up and more modern that what a lot of young people drive.
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
It's comfortable, smooth and safe (5* Euro N Cap, lots of airbags). Nothing about it really stands out, but it is a respectable choice for a cost-effective everyday car.
Would you buy this car again and why?
At the price I bought it, the car was a good deal and a solid choice, but for full retail price I might be more inclined to get something a little more exciting and stylish. The new i20s are attractive, so I would buy from the brand again.
What are you likely to buy next?
Most likely a larger hatchback, something with more design flair and preferably faster too - most likely a Seat Leon SC.

What's it like to drive?
Comfortable, safe - definitely adequate in all areas although not particularly fast or exciting. The 1.4L engine feels faster than the figures would suggest (11.6s 0-60), but can get quite loud and thrashy when pushed. Gearbox is nice but only 5 speed, which means motorway cruising is never that relaxed (just over 3000 RPM in 5th at 70). Best economy is gained at between 30-50 MPH in 5th where you can exceed 50 MPG. Engine is quite tolerant and smooth, and is happy in 5th as soon as you get up to 25 MPH. I average 40 MPG in my daily commute.
What's it like to park?
Easy. The car is quite small (I would put it inbetween a Polo and a Golf for size for example) and the windows are large. This combined with a high seating position (fully adjustable) means visibility is very good.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
Nothing major. A few very minor faults have appeared, like a slight seal issue that allowed water into the side indicator surround, and the accelerator was a bit stiff and inconsistent for my liking, but all have been fixed quickly with the excellent 5 year warranty. No major mechanical problems at all - seems very reliable.
What's most practical about your car?
All electric windows is practical and something that a lot of small cars of the same age don't feature. The boot is a decent size and the rear split-folding seats lie totally flat when down. Lots of room un-front, but not a huge amount in the back. Fine for kids, but adults may find the lack of leg room uncomfortable on longer journeys.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
This mid-spec car is equipped with quite impressive kit for the price. All windows are electric (and the driver's one automatic), CD/radio unit has USB and AUX input for your music, steering wheel mounted audio controls and, my favorite, electric folding mirrors.
