Hyundai i30 Hatchback (2012 - 2017) 1.6 CRDi Blue drive Active 5d Owner Review

In their own words
I was initially attracted to the car due to economy, stylish looks and inclusion of many driver aids. After 10,000miles and 8 months of ownership, it has developed creaks and squeaks that are noticeable on rough surfaces especially on hot days. The seat side cushioning creaks if you lean on them, the parcel shelf creaks and occasionally there is an intermittant rattle from within the steering column. The cheap tyres that came with the car, made the ride jittery and noisey (Sounds like wheel bearing) after a while. Much better now they have been replaced with a premium make. On warm days, when the car has been standing for 3 - 6 hours after being driven, the idle on start up is lumpy and bounces between 800 - 1000 rpm for about 30 seconds. The front brakes after the discs get a slight lip, start making grinding noises after moderate use. The windscreen washer motor slowly died and was replaced under warranty. Rear wiper replacements cost a fortune (£20ish) at the dealer and the major national mator factors have to order them (they are £7 on ebay). My Air con only just cools and probably needs re gassing after 4 years . Dealer experience is hit and miss, one person said I needed to leave the Car for the whole day for a job that takes 1/2 hour - 1 hour and told me it would be 2 week wait to get booked in, others have been more helpful. Dealer staff seemed worn out by people phoning up about warranty items when I sat in their office. Overall opinion: Initially a good car, but not sure the build quality is up to lasting even the warranty period (5 years). But so far, just many niggles. I would advise test driving this model on rough broken roads on hot days before buying.
