We bought our first electric car more than 7 years ago but it's range was limited to 90 miles. For all our long journeys we kept a diesel car. Having experienced the advantages of driving and owning an EV, we had been looking for a while to replace the diesel car with an electric car that can make long trips without any problems. We bought the KONA EV to replace our diesel XF and it has proved a very good replacement. The Kona is quiter, quicker, and has proved more reliable than the XF. We have made regular long journeys (over 320 miles) in this country and longer trips to the continent. The car has enough range to easily manage longer trips. With reguler 2-3 hour stops anyway for refreshments, charging is not adding to the travel times. The costs of electric charging is lower than diesel or petrol on the motorways and charging at home is a lot cheaper and easier. Over the year it costs an average of 2p per mile. The service costs are also much less. However the purchase price is a higher than an equivalent diesel or petrol car. Overal it is real pleasure to drive a car that is so clean, quiet, quick and easy to own.
