Forty something family man, wanting cheap practical 4x4.

They think it looks more expensive than it was.

I would buy the Diesel not the 2.4 petrol.
What are you likely to buy next?
Probably a more traditional 4x4 estate. Maybe a Volvo XC70.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
Drives very well, engine surprisingly quiet for a 2.4, and cruises nicely at 70 on motorway. Feels safe driving around country roads, some body roll, but not bad given the size of the car.
What's it like to park?
It's big, but rear visibility is ok - it certainly hones your parking skills!

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
Two months in, had constant oil leak, resulting in replacement gearbox. Next to go was total engine failure whilst driving on motorway at 70 mph, caused by a shredded timing belt(supposedly replaced 10k before). All work thankfully done inside of dealer warranty!
What's most practical about your car?
It's been a decent car to drive in the short time I've actually had it - loads of room in the cabin - front and rear. Good sized boot, decent cd player - everything electrical still works fine for an 11 year old car.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
Good sunroof that actually works - unlike a Freelander I had before. Air con/heater works well. Could do with an outside temp display, and the date display is totally pointless.
