Hyundai Tucson (2015 - 2020) 1.7 CRDi Blue Drive Premium 2WD 5d Owner Review

In their own words
I didn't set my expectations high when i decided to give this vehicle a try as the price and the prior reputation of Hyundai were that of cheap and cheerful runabouts.
First impressions where good, the car looks sturdy and practical, it has a very large boot and a huge amount of cabin space for driver and passengers. My son is 6ft, as am I, and finds front space to be more than ample, and in the back again no issues. The rear seats recline so long journeys for the passengers are not a problem, much less cramped than my old focus.
General driving position is great, everything is in reach and its very, very comfortable. Little seating tweaks and adjustments made for the perfect position for me. 3 - 4 hour journeys to the west country are a pleasure and not draining or uncomfortable The seats offer good adjustment options and good comfort. Kit in the car is good, though no voice control is a puzzling missing item and I would prefer a stereo that has a bit more bass from a dedicated centre sub or speaker. the standard is a bit thin sounding.
Climate control, satnav, parking camera, parking sensors, heated seats and audio all work well, but there is an underlying cheapness to the controls, and many interior plastics are poor, this is the only real criticism I have of the interior but I don't expect to get good quality interior finishes on every surface at this price point. i would pay a little extra to get a better trim level though. The leather interior is lovely.
Drive quality is good, I'm not sure the engine is that well refined, its a bit course and not very swift but the soundproofing is good so its not at all intrusive. road noise is also well hidden. I am averaging around 39mpg, I'm sure I could do better with a lighter right foot, if i really try hard I can get it up to around 45mpg
Summary Overall impressions of this vehicle for me have been very good. In the 9 months I have had the vehicle I have covered nearly 20k miles, so it is working hard for me and has impressed me greatly.
If the plastics where a little less plastic and the audio was more Hifi, this would be the perfect vehicle. Its quiet, comfortable, well specified and drives extremely well, especially given its size.
Hopefully a facelift vehicle will improve the interior and some more power units will give prospective buyers better options to suite their needs.
How reliable do you find the car?
The boot unlock button on the remote doesn't seem to work, and there is a very annoying revving of the engine when dipping the clutch on approach to a junction, which apparently is normal, but otherwise very goodDoes the car do everything you expected it to do?
I wasn't expecting this car to be as practical as i have found it to be. cant fault it for trying! Light right foot will return 45mpg easily. this car can be driven though, and handles very well despite its size.About their car
