What is miles per pound?
Fuel economy
A more stringent standard for fuel economy (WLTP) was introduced from September 2017, and this model was not required to undergo that test.
Its fuel economy measured under the previous test system was 40 - 47 mpg. However these figures are less likely to be achievable in real world driving and so should never be compared to another car's mpg which was measured under the newer, more realistic WLTP system.

This is one of the most competitive cars to run in the sector. It is claimed to be able to return an average economy of 47.9mpg, while insurance groups should be very low. That helps bring costs down further as does the five-year unlimited mileage warranty.
Emitting 137g/km of CO2, the Blue Drive model is the favoured choice. There’s also a gear shift indicator suggesting the best time to change gear in order to minimise fuel consumption.
Hyundai offers a five-year unlimited mileage warranty on the Veloster and, although it’s a totally new model, the Korean maker’s first-class reliability record suggests you won’t have too many problems.
