INEOS Grenadier verdict
Should you buy one?
If you’re missing being able to buy a traditional Defender new, and can’t stomach the price of a classic one, the Grenadier could well be for you. In many ways, the Grenadier is an impressive achievement by Ineos, especially when one considers it’s an all-new car by a firm that’s never built one before.
It offers serious utility and toughness built-in, but it’s not without issues. It’s expensive, and if you want home comforts, you’ll need to climb up the range, where the prices become ever loftier. And regardless of what you spend, the Grenadier is deeply compromised on the tarmac, arguably moreso in some regards than even a classic Defender.
At that point, the idea of a new Land Rover Defender – modern styling or not – becomes rather appealing.
