Isuzu Trooper (1992 - 2003) 3.0 TD Insignia 5d Owner Review

In their own words
I have been lucky to find a reasonably low mileage Insignia spec LWB, which so far has been fantastic.
Serviced last month, with timing belt change, and has done several hundred miles since then in comfort on family holiday and kayaking trips.
It is very comfortable to drive on the motorway and over long distances, however twisty country roads are harder work. This is to be expected however, given the type of vehicle.
Off Road ability is fantastic, with option of low ratio box when required.
I had been looking for a Land Rover Defender, however I'm glad I opted for the Trooper. It is a much more comfortable and practical car and was £18,000 cheaper than the equivalent age (and much more basic spec) Defender.
Insignia spec has heated seats, electric (heated) mirrors, electric front seats, climate control, abs, electric windows front and back, leather seats.
The engine has lots of low down power and easily capable of motorway speeds. It's perhaps not the most frugal in terms of mpg, but given size of engine (3.0 td) and size of vehicle, it's quite reasonable.
How reliable do you find the car?
Only issue so far has been loss of power after starting on really cold days. Lasted 30 seconds, then back to normal. Has not occurred since car serviced.Does the car do everything you expected it to do?
Excellent load capacity for family trips and kayaking expeditions. Ability to fold seats 60/40 (whole seat, not just backrest) increases already cavernous boot.About their car
