Summary
What does this car say about you?
Bit of an old giffers car.
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
Seem to think it was more expensive than it was. Generally positive reactions.
Would you buy this car again and why?
No, not a chance. Any impression of quality was skin deep and if you looked closer you could see lots of corners cut and cheap details. Fixings and fastenings all rotted making every job harder than it needed to be. Engine bay massively cramped so every job in there became massive too. Fuel economy was miles off where it should have been and only slightly better than the Volvo V70 T5 that I replaced it with. Avoid. I hope the XF is better put together but I have my doubts.
What are you likely to buy next?
Replaced already with a Volvo V70 T5.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
Good but always felt underpowered. Bit soft and rolled, but that was the price for very good ride quality. Easy to cover long distances and great seats. Cabin was nice with a few really cheap nasty details spoiling it a little.
What's it like to park?
Very easy if you're used to saloon cars. Sensors front and back were handy until they died.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
Yes, lots. Two turbochargers replaced under Jaguar warranty just before I had it. In my ownership the torque converter and then gearbox had to be replaced. EGR valve. Constant niggling little faults, went through 3 external temp sensors. Washer pump died and poor quality fixings on the bumper had corroded so it became a big job to get it off to change the pump. Car was completely and totally knackered by 7 years old / 130,000 miles despite them being relatively easy miles. Not great.
What's most practical about your car?
Not much in the end. Good ride quality and refined. Fuel economy was so poor I wish I'd bought the V8.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
Touch screen sat nav was quite good.
