Summary
What does this car say about you?
Have money, perhaps slightly old fashioned (I prefer classic!) tastes and traditional style.
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
All so far like the car and amazed at what good value it is. Hopefully that will remain the case provided nothing major goes awry with it!
Would you buy this car again and why?
Yes. Even more impressed with the car than I thought I would be.
What are you likely to buy next?
Newer S-Type

Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Independent
Did you buy this car new?
No
What price did you pay?
£3,300
When did you buy the car?
June 2008
Did you get a good deal and why?
Yes, I think so. Low mileage, one owner, FSH a mixture of dealer and specialist. TVR dealer who only acquired the Jaguar in order to get his hands on a TVR. He wanted to dispose of the Jaguar.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
I have always liked Jaguars, particularly the S-Type's retro looks.
What was the dealer like?
Very pleasant and helpful.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
Extremely comfortable and refined, surprisingly good fun considering its size and rather pipe-and-slippers image. Mine is the manual and I find it much more pleasant than other manual geared premium cars that I have driven. Seems to suit the 3.0 litre engine better than auto box.
What's it like to park?
Very easy.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
Initial service only threw up one problem that I suspected was faulty on test drive. Heater control valve under bonnet. Sometimes you would get heat, other times not. I would advise anyone, especially with limited budget, to do lots of research and allow a large contingency fund.
What's most practical about your car?
Auto retracting steering wheel when exiting the car.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
Rolling door locks and auto lights.
