Summary
What does this car say about you?
The car does make me look like an old (I was 'only' 31 when I bought the car), slow, and courteous driver, which is precisely what I want people to think then they see this car. Then I end up erupting their perception once I've disappeared beyond their horizon - nice.
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
Friends who know about cars: impressed. Friends who don't know about cars: impressed. Family - Brother & sisters are scared and impressed. Parents: thinks its very sensible, and thus impressed. Neighbors - think its loud, so impressed :) I'm surprised by how much people like the car, I don't particularly like its appearance myself, but its winning a lot of praises.
Would you buy this car again and why?
Not this particular model, as it is no longer in production, but its replacement - the Jaguar XFR, would very much be welcomed. The XJ SS is also on the want list.
What are you likely to buy next?
At the moment, probably another Jaguar, this time from the Tata era.

Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Independent
Did you buy this car new?
No
What price did you pay?
£6,500
When did you buy the car?
May 2012
Did you get a good deal and why?
Very reasonable price considering the performance and quality on offer. I was on the hunt for an automatic car as my wife needs to drive soon, and rather than getting two cars, I choose to "compromise" by buying an auto that happens to be attached to 400bhp!
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
What was the dealer like?
Hills Of Lymington were the dealers, very helpful, courteousness, and knowledgeable. Would recommend them to anyone.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
It has made me wonder why anyone needs anything approaching 400bhp in a road car. This Jag is hilariously and unnecessarily quick, stops brilliantly, rides superbly, and handles tightly. It is better than it ought to be.
What's it like to park?
Very good visibility around round from the driver's seat, and with (I think) standard parking sensors up front and behind, makes it even easier. Alloys are easily curbed though, as the beading on tyres aren't particularly thick.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
Nothing, except the boot interior light bulb, which I replaced in 5 minutes.
What's most practical about your car?
Its a good sized 5 seat car, we have a new born baby, it swallows our needs and moves it around very quickly indeed.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
The Supercharged 4.2 V8 is the favorite option on the car of course. But the sat nav in this car, though 8 years old, is superior than that of many current systems - very surprisingly good.
