Summary
What does this car say about you?
Sophistication, class but with a few surprises thrown in?
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
My fella has the X-Type Classic saloon, and he loves mine despite its many problems. Friends are impressed I own a Jag, but my mother thinks I should never have bought it (and hate to say it, but she's probably right!).
Would you buy this car again and why?
Probably not, too many things gone wrong with it and too expensive to run. The garages rip you off when you drive in with a Jaguar, despite its fairly reasonable price to buy.
What are you likely to buy next?
Audi A4 estate or Mazda 626 Sport estate.

Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Independent
Did you buy this car new?
No
What price did you pay?
£6,500
When did you buy the car?
August 2011
Did you get a good deal and why?
Yes, got him to throw in 12 months' MOT, and price was very good although this was probably because no warranty was included.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
Needed an estate for practical reasons.
What was the dealer like?
Friendly, and seemed genuine and not pushy.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
For the few times it's not had anything wrong with it, it drives beautifully - performance, handling, looks and prestige all rolled into one. It's especially good on long journeys, seems to do better the further you go, and seats are so comfortable it's a pleasure to drive, but on the downside I've had nothing but trouble with the whole suspension. Had practically everything replaced, spent over £800 and it still whines and creaks! At the moment I'm actually embarrassed to drive it with all the noise!
What's it like to park?
Easy, even for a dumb blonde like me lol! It was even easier until the reversing sensors packed up only 6 months after having it, and now they bleep every time I turn the ignition....very annoying! Had a Focus estate before this, and the X Type is much wider and longer, but I've even impressed my fella with how easy I can park it!

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
Loads of things gone wrong, I regret ever buying it, and to make matters worse the parts are very expensive and some not available aftermarket and have to be genuine Jaguar.
What's most practical about your car?
Good fuel economy.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
Folding side mirrors and electronic seat adjustment.
