In their own words

What started as impulse buy (needed a car quickly) has been a little gem, everything works, only things I’ve replaced are the front fogs ( water ingress) fuel filler cap cable, and the sills (starting to go so it made sense to futureproof) and a seized headlight washer pump.
Now here’s the thing, my X Type is a great car, I bought it from a trade dealer as a “part x to clear” and I must admit I let my heart overrule my head. Good service history is a must, mine had dealer stamps and good reputable garages, check the MOT history look for advisories for corrosion, and allow for a set of sills, the cheaper the car the more likely you’ll be replacing them!
Car drives very well, and doesn’t use much diesel, get the highest spec you can find, chances are it’s been loved by someone’s Grandad, you will get the “nice Mondeo” comment regularly and you’ll be looked down on by the Jaguar Drivers Club (it’s not a real Jag they say) but ignore them it’s a future classic that saved Jaguar thanks to Ford! Buy one enjoy it feel posh inside it, yes it’s a diesel but the tax is cheap and fuel lasts a lot longer!! Oh and try a stage one remap, just to spice things up.
Tech is dated but so is last years iPhone, sat nav uses 2012 maps but it was top notch back in the day, and still useable, Bluetooth only does phone calls but that was witchcraft in 2008! So if your looking for a posh, cheap to run, leather and wood clad car look no further. I paid just under a grand for mine, prices range from £500- £5k for mint low mileage one owner cars so there’s plenty of choice.
I love my Baby Jag (do do do) it’s the last of the reliable engines, built by Ford refined by Jaguar, my only gripe is it’s not AWD.
