Summary
What does this car say about you?
If I wanted a 3-series I'd have bought one.
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
Mostly impressed - but they all have VW Passats.
Would you buy this car again and why?
Yes as long as I can afford the petrol. It's a great car with no weak points apart from the fuel consumption (about 25-26 mpg).
What are you likely to buy next?
Jaguar XF

Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Independent
Did you buy this car new?
No
What price did you pay?
£17,500
When did you buy the car?
July 2008
Did you get a good deal and why?
Paid £14k less than list price for a car with 4,800 milnes on the clock. Petrol was £1.21 per litre and car tax had just gone up to £400 so no-one wanted 3-litres.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
Owned a 2.5 V6 Sport saloon, 108,000 very reliable miles, wanted an estate but not a diesel.
What was the dealer like?
Very good but would have liked him to bring the car to me rather than having to travel 120 miles to him.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
Fast, powerful, noticeably more torque than the 2.5, superb handling and grip in any weather, any road surface. Always leaves you with the feeling you could have taken that last corner 10mph faster.
What's it like to park?
Front and rear sensors make it easy - but Jaguar should have put a rear view camera to show on the satnav screen.
-
Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
Intermittent engine temp sensor fault (fixed under guarantee). Otherwise faultless.
What's most practical about your car?
Roomy, comfortable, flexible load space.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
4WD and traction control coped with winter snow brilliantly. Voice control is fun and lets you keep your eyes on the road.
