Summary
What does this car say about you?
I may be old fashioned but I don't care. I like a Jag to look like a Jag and not a jelly mould.
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
That I've won the lottery - I don't tell them it's cheaper to buy, run, insure, tax and maintain than their also-ran. Whenever they sit in the back, they come over all regal..
Would you buy this car again and why?
YES, YES, YES!! In fact, I've just bought 2.2D Sovereign on an 08 plate, so now I'm called 2 Jags. Sadly, they don't make it anymore - think again Mr TATA, you are missing out!!!
What are you likely to buy next?
Just bought another X-Type, as above. I expect it to last me a long time.

Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Franchised
Did you buy this car new?
No
What price did you pay?
£5,379
When did you buy the car?
June 2009
Did you get a good deal and why?
At just over £5k for a 5 year old Jag in pristine condition, when Mondeos and Astras were more - er .......I think so.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
Who wouldn't want a Jag? Never thought I'd be able to afford one let alone run one, but the X-Type is the best kept secret and I'm not for letting on!
What was the dealer like?
I've never met a dealer I liked and I've bought a few new cars, but Strathstones of Bolton restore your faith in human nature. I bought a 2nd hand Jag and they treated me (and still do) like a Lord.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
It makes driving a pleasure and the boot is deceptively big. It's very comfortable and doesn't hang about ... the 50 - 70 acceleration for overtaking is awesome. 2k revs @ 60mph in 5th means it will cruise all day at 70+ and still return 60 mpg. It's like driving an armchair.
What's it like to park?
I've never had a problem - but if you can't park a car????

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
After 3 years of driving it, sadly I had to put 2 new tyres on it. The bonnet catch on the drivers' side can be a nuisance by popping up, but it's easy to get the catch off, fiddle with and adjust.
What's most practical about your car?
It costs nowt to run, does 55-60 mpg and starts first time every time.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
The smile it puts on my face every time I get in it!!
