Jaguar X-Type Saloon (2001 - 2010) 2.0d SE 4d (Euro 4) Owner Review

In their own words
I bought the 2.0 litre diesel with a manual box because I absolutely loved the retro shape which identifies it from a distance as a Jaguar. I looked around for a long time for the 'right' one to come available and bought a metalic black with all the toys.
After driving a Meriva, the Jag felt powerful, responsive and quick. However, there we problems with it as you'd expect with a 10 year old car. It felt lumpy when setting off and there was a lot of smoke when under load. Prior to buying, I checked its MOT history and the one thing that stood out was the emissions. I stripped out the EGR valve which was heavily gunged up. I also cleaned the turbo which was also heavily gunged. Once I done this, it was much more responsive. One of the problems with heavy oil.
I've done a few round trips of over 200 miles on the same day and find the car so comfortable. It's so relaxing you don't feel like 'racing' and the Jag just nicely rolls along even with 4 adults in the car.
