Summary
What does this car say about you?
It says that you can have prestige without paying a fortune.
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
Many relatives and neighbours thought that it was very plush and up-market.
Would you buy this car again and why?
I would definitely buy this car again but I think I might try the diesel alternative. A minor problem with the car is that it can't seat three adults in the back row and the large trunk in the centre limits the middle passenger's foot space even more.
What are you likely to buy next?
A Ford Mondeo. This may sound surprising but don't forget that the chassis of the X-Type was from a Ford Mondeo.

Yes we did because of the advertisement for a deal paying every month at a special price.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
We wanted a car that looked impressive for a reasonable amount of money.
What was the dealer like?
Absolutely fantastic. They put a bouquet of flowers in the boot of the car with a bottle of champagne.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
The car was great for motorway journeys engulfing every mile as it came with great ease. However, urban trips weren't quite so refined and the car didn't like the stop-and-start motion. The engine was so quiet that it is very stallable and unfortunately has quite a sticky gearbox.
What's it like to park?
With the accessory of the parking sensors, the car was very easily parked.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
Nothing went wrong with the car.
What's most practical about your car?
The boot is of a good size for a car in the compact executive class.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
The parking sensors were my favourite accessory and were very useful even for a relatively small car. The ivory leather seats were lavishly comfortable. In addition the accessory of four wheel drive was put to the test and worked well in many country fields.
