Jaguar XE 2.0d (180bhp) Portfolio 4d Owner Review
Want to know everything there is to know about this car?
In their own words
To start with the positive. The car is a joy to drive, it steers and handles with true aplomb . The Ignenium diesel is sprightly and frugal and pulls brilliantly but sounds awful. Whilst the 8 speed auto gearbox has been criticised by others I find it just perfect and the vehicle is always in the right gear for what you are doing The cabin interior is lovely if a little small.
On the down side the size of the fuel tank and the luggage space in the boot is rediculously small. Cabin insulation is poor and the noise inside the cabin is intrusive, there are various rattles and creaks all round you in the cabin when driving. The infotainment system is ok, quite adequate but would have hoped for something a little more sophisticated. GPS is easy to use and works well, but Jaguar have yet to issue any map updates !!!!
The styling of the car is both beautiful and aerodynamic. It looks good and wind noise is absolutely minimal. On the flip side of this is a very small boot/trunk and a stupidly small fuel tank.
In summing up, a lovely car, wonderful to drive, and a joy so far, but it has failings. This car would not make a good family car.
How reliable do you find the car?
A few build quality niggles, such as rattles and creaks inside the cabin, but on the whole everything works and does so time after time from the infotainment to the windscreen wipers.Does the car do everything you expected it to do?
Coming from a BMW 5 series, expectations for this car were high and generally the XE has met them except in two respects, these being fuel range ( small tank) and boot space which is very poor. To balance that the car is a joy to drive if a little noisy.About their car
