Summary
What does this car say about you?
It is a vehicle that others admire and assume that the owner must be successful. It looks like a car a designer would own.
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
Its appreciated for being a good looking car - not ugly like BMWs, vulgar like Mercs or bland like Audis. It certainly impressews the neighbours...until they see the list of faults.
Would you buy this car again and why?
No. Far too many faults, particularly for a £40k+ vehicle. It has been the most unreliable car I have owned in the past 20 years. By comparision, our Fiat Panda 100HP cost a quarter of the price, is 3.5 years old now and has been 100% reliable!
What are you likely to buy next?
Probbaly a comfortable car with 4x4 drive.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
Precise and accurate steering. Reports of XF steering being "too light" are nonsense. Nimble handling belies car's size and weight. Brakes very powerful but progressive. Ride comfort compromised - its too firm for a Jaguar - almost Germanic in its quality and that's a bad thing. The ride quality can get lumpy.
What's it like to park?
Ok, but its a long and wide car, so can involve a lot of wheel twirling to inch into spaces. Front and rear parking sensora are a must.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
Final drive unit failed after 1 month. Replacement final drive unit oil seal failed 2 weeks after replacement. Sunroof seals "twitter" and squeak. Drivers window seal replaced. Handbrake unit jams on or off, depending on car's mood. Fuel filler cap jammed shut - replaced under warranty. Rear window glass has significant optical flaw. Faulty Osram dipped headlight bulbs - glass molten & discoloured. Front end of car appears to be mis-aligned - nearside headlamp unit removed easily, offside unit jammed - apertures seem to be different. Front passenger door window stopped working for 2 weeks. Sponge seals on engine bay bulkhead filled with water, froze then came apart. ntermittent rattle from below gearchange control.
What's most practical about your car?
Roomy for 4 adults.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
The combined satnav/audio control/systems control screen works really well.
