Jaguar XF Saloon (2008 - 2015) 3.0d V6 Premium Luxury 4d Auto Owner Review

In their own words
I few been driving for 40 years and had BMWs in that time, but never spent a full year without having to get something repaired. My last car was a 530d which the dealer had in his garage longer than I had it in mine. I decided to name the break and test drove the XF, having spotted a great low mileage model. Its a better car in every way, despite most pro reviewers seemingly strain into to admit it and nit picking at every opportunity. It's more comfortable, better to drive, has a great interior with more features than I've had on any other car in its class (electric seats with 3 stage heating on the seat AND on the back), cruise control, speed limiter, photochromic rear mirrors inside and out, voice activated controls, dash mounted 6-CD changer, DVD sat nav, Bluetooth phone, keyless entry and start, the list goes on and on.
It's extremely comfortable and superb to drive with nicely weighted steering that is nice and light while parking and weighted just right on the road, stunning brakes, and a smooth, powerful V6 engine with a great note while still retaining a quiet cabin for those motorway long hauls.
Don't be put off by economy figures, in the real world there's actually not much in it compared to similar cars and it actually cost me less to insure than my 520d.
The boot is huge and the back seats fold for even more room, but check as I believe this may be an option. I've had no complaints whatsoever about rear seat comfort or room, though I can see that someone over 5'10" may struggle o er a long distance, but the 5-series wasn't noticeably better and certainly wasn't as comfortable.
Best of all though is it looks stunning, something you will appreciate more when you realise other people are giving it a second glance to and occasionally commenting on it - something I never experienced after owning 4 BMWs. I honestly don't know why people choose the 5-series over this. It's their loss, but a shame for Jaguar who deserve far better success with what is easily the best car I've ever owned.
How reliable do you find the car?
I've had the car for almost a year from the time of writing and not had so much as a bulb to replace. Feels smooth, solid and reliable.
Does the car do everything you expected it to do?
Great to drive, extremely comfortable, handles rough roads well (even on 19" wheels which I was a little nervous about when I first bought it), nicely weighted and very precise steering, superb brakes. Hugely impressed.
