Summary
What does this car say about you?
That I no longer follow the crowd who are indoctrinated to believe that German cars are best. Yes, they are good, but I now judge cars on how they perform and suit my needs rather than their origins.
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
It is driven often by my 2 sons and my wife and all love it to bits. It is, in everybody's opinion, the best looking car in its class.
Would you buy this car again and why?
Yes I would as it fills every requirement. Attractive sporty appearance, quick, superb handling, comfortable, practical and reliable.
What are you likely to buy next?
I like the look of the Sportbrake XF, but I will certainly stay with the diesel S engine.

Did you buy this car new?
Yes
What price did you pay?
£42,000
When did you buy the car?
March 2011
Did you get a good deal and why?
Yes, excellent trade-in and this one was in stock, I suspect it may have been a cancelled order.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
I had one of the first XF's before after 4 BMW's and found it to be an absolute delight.
What was the dealer like?
Very good.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
Superb! I regularly do day return trips of 300 or 400 miles and it is a pure delight. Never tiring, superbly quiet motorway cruising and outstanding handling on A/B roads. In particular the steering is pure precision. It is seriously quick too.
What's it like to park?
With the sensors it is fine, but you do need those as the front is difficult to judge otherwise. Visibility is good though.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
Those silly switchless interior lights developed a fault, and kept coming on whilst driving. Replaced and resolved.
What's most practical about your car?
I really like the folding rear seats, I use them so often.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
The front and rear parking sensors are a big help. In particular it is quite difficult to judge the front of the car as it slopes away steeply, so the sensors are needed.
