  • Summary

    4 out of 5 4.0

What does this car say about you?

That I probably need a smaller and more economical car.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

Everyone likes it and things it looks great but nobody would want a big thirsty V8 so most people don't think it is relevant to them.

Would you buy this car again and why?

No I would not. It is too expensive to run and prone to electrical issues.

What are you likely to buy next?

    Porsche Cayman GTS.

  • Buying experience

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Independent

Did you buy this car new?

    No

    What price did you pay?

    £28,000

When did you buy the car?

    February 2011

Did you get a good deal and why?

The purchase price seemed good as the mileage was very low, however there were issues buying from an independent dealer and I would never buy from one again.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

    Family car.

    What was the dealer like?

Terrible customer service and even dishonest. Would always go to a franchise dealer in future.

  • Driving it

    3 out of 5 3.0

    What's it like to drive?

It is a lovely car to drive. Smooth and very planted. It is a big heavy car, and as such should never be hustled or man handled. It wafts along at a great pace on the motorway, which is its natural habitat.

    What's it like to park?

If you are parking in a straight line easy. Anything else will probably mean you end up dinging the 20" wheels on the curb. If you are not easing into an open space with no other cars around then you will have to take maximum care. When parking in a space between cars it is much better to reverse park, as this is usually the only way to get into the space whilst preserving the condition of the wheels.

  • Living with it

    4 out of 5 4.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

Two things have failed which are both electrical. A relay needed replacing which cost £600, but could have cost double that to find the source of the problem if I didn't have a helpful Jaguar franchise who services my car. They are very good and I feel I can trust them and that they give me honest and straight answers. The other item that failed was part of the wiring that goes through the black rubber tube in the boot - apparently it is a common fault that opening and closing the boot over time causes a failure in the wiring. This is just a very poor design fault and Jaguar did pay 50% for the repairs, even though my car was out of warranty. Thank you Jaguar ;-).

What's most practical about your car?

Will happily carry 5 people in reasonable comfort, although because it is designed to look good above practicality I'm sure there are other saloons that are similar in size or even slightly smaller that do a better job of accommodating five people.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

Front seats that cool as well as heat. This is great in the Summer when you can keep your backside and back cool. I don't know many other cars with this on the options list!
