Jaguar XF Saloon (2008-2015) verdict
Should you buy a used Mk1 Jaguar XF?
If you can find the right example, absolutely. The XF represents fantastic value – it was an exceptionally good car at launch, and now it undercuts many of its main rivals in terms of used pricing it’s a veritable bargain.
Meticulous maintenance is the best way to ensure XF running costs don’t spiral, but even a cheap example can be long-lived provided it’s been given plenty of good motorway runs. Regardless of trim level, the interior’s a fabulous place to sit, and though the engines aren’t all as good as each other the XF’s chassis is exceptionally comfortable and great fun to drive.
We’d look for either a 2.2-litre diesel for the best running costs, or the 5.0-litre petrol for a fantastic blend of space and sky-falling noise. Portfolio models are a true mini-limousine, but Premium Luxury cars have all the toys you’d want.
