With the InTouch Pro navigator, virtual dash, 14-way memory seats and two-tone leather, I'd argue the interior is no less impressive than a BMW 5 or Mercedes E-class. Although, you do need to get an XF with the InTouch "PRO" upgrade, since the basic 8" touch screen looks cheap, has poor graphics and is slow to respond.
The car is an absolute dream to drive, with great adaptive suspension, adaptive cruise control and the 700NM (516lbs/ft) torque. I've driven a 530, and the XF-S is a nicer car to drive, especially on winding country roads.
Although the 2.0d engines can sound a little noisy (I've driven a 2.0d XE), I find the V6 to be pretty quiet for a diesel, and most the time you'd have no idea you were behind the wheel of a diesel.
The 8-speed auto is good for normal driving, but like all autos will push the revs up high when you put your foot down. Fortunately, the car has paddle shifters, and in "S" mode the car will allow the driver to select the gear so that the driver can make use of the vast torque during overtaking.
For a large heavy car, fuel consumption is not bad. On a mix of driving I tend to average just over 40MPG. Although, you'd probably get better MPG with a BMW.
