Economy
Value
Good if bought at the right price.
Costs
18 MPG round town, up to 30 on long run. Dealer parts prices are a rip off. Cheap to insure but overall is very expensive to run. Set of tyres is over £650.

On the road
Driving
Silky smooth and quiet. 3.2 needs lots of revs for full performance.
Performance
Good handling but steering feels a bit dead. Great high speed cruiser with strong mid range acceleration.

Living with it
Reliability
My XJ is less than six years old and below 70000miles . It's had problems with brakes, steering, auto box, remotes and suspension. Leather seats already cracked and worn in places. All cost a fortune to fix.
Image
Smells of old money. Looks great on the drive and one of the few cars that gets BMWs out of lane 3.
Comfort
Low speed ride with sports suspension and 17" wheels very un-Jaguar. Crashes over potholes and speed humps. Lots of squeaks and rattles from trim.

Security and Service
Security
Alarm occasionally sounds for no reason.
Service
Unbelievably expensive to service and repair. Parts prices are a real problem as little is available so far outside the dealer network.
