Jaguar XJ Saloon 3.2 Sport 4d Auto (1995/M) Owner Review

Economy
Value
Second-hand bargain.
Costs
Not too bad given its size and performance. Fuel consumption can often average the high teens, but relaxing the right foot will sort that out.
-
On the road
Driving
Can be great fun, and handles well, although without traction control, gets very slidey in the wet at speed.
Performance
Out-performs almost anything, and it cruises happily at double the motorway limit.

Living with it
Reliability
An original rubber hose split last year, and the original battery died a few months back. Not too bad, really.
Image
Preferred by older people my friends often poke fun at it. Bit of an old man's car - drive along in a hoodie, doing wheel spins, and everyone thinks you've nicked it!
Comfort
Can be a little uncomfortable over poor surfaces, but generally good. Sports seats are helpfully supportive.

Security and Service
Security
Extra Cat 2 immobiliser cuts insurance and increases security. Never had it tested though.
Service
Main dealer is very good, and not too expensive.
