Massive torque and the 370bhp XJR is extraordinarily fast for its weight (0-60mph in little over five seconds). All are quieter than before, powerful but poised. The V8 is great teamed with the five-speed auto, whether you choose the smaller 3.2 or the creamy 4.0.
Absolutely obedient and graceful, though steering could provide better feedback. Handling and balance compare favourably with smaller sports cars. Roadholding and grip are superb and it has the kind of ride expected of a limousine.
