Jaguar XJ Saloon XJ8 4.0 4d Auto (1999/V) Owner Review

Economy
Value
Second-hand, these are excellent buys - I could not justify the new cost, however.
Costs
Main dealer costs are very high - though no more so than for a Merc, Volvo or BMW. It makes sense to keep up the factory warranty. This is pricey, but it would pay for itself if anything major were to break.

On the road
Driving
Super drive - very relaxed and very smooth.
Performance
Try to imagine a 150mph leather Chesterfield... Very rapid for a big car, especially through the mid-ranges.

Living with it
Reliability
No problems in the few months I have had it, save for new disks on the front, which the dealer paid for.
Image
Not a modern design - in fact it's not changed much in 20 years, but why change something which looks that good?
Comfort
Probably the best ride around.

Security and Service
Security
As far as I can tell, it's pretty good.
Service
Main dealers are expensive, but they certainly know what they are talking about.
