In their own words
XJ 3.0D Portfolio SWB - Sports Interior + Exterior Packs in Italian Racing Red with Ivory Leather Car was £72500 list price. I paid £37000 @ 18months and 8400 miles with a Jaguar 3yr service plan. Don't buy a new one. Overall this car has been fantastic so far, now 29000 miles. Drives very well indeed, feels light and agile for its size Choose your parking spot wisely Average is just over 40mpg and driven sensibly even better on a long run 50+ Defective xenon headlight was fixed under warranty, over 2 hrs, bumper had to be removed to change bulb. Jaguar Service programs are not straight forward and did cause problems when I wanted my car serviced by a different official Jaguar franchise. So room for improvement there without a doubt. Dealer quotes for ancillary items i.e. brake pads and the like are horrendous, go elsewhere Touch screen controls and general electronics are a bit lethargic in their speed of processing. Rear head and leg room is not the best for a car of this size, but I don't sit there :) Fixed rear seat limits practicality. I considered a BMW 730 and Audi A8 which are very good cars and better in some aspects but I am pleased I chose the XJ. The exterior sporty look and styling appeals to me as does the interior layout and styling which is a very nice place to be in the driving seat. It feels more like a "quality lounge" than the "functional office" feel of the 730 / A8 Massive Portfolio spec is excellent, as is the standard Pan roof and 8 speed auto smooth and effortless with 275bhp diesel. Personally I am more than happy with my choice but have tried to highlight its minor flaws as above for your benefit.
