Jaguar XK8 Coupe (1996 - 2005) 4.0 Classic 2d Auto Owner Review

Jaguar's XK8's are an affordable Grand Tourer classic with class and style. This is the 1st Jaguar and 1st XK8 I purchased (I've got 2 xk8s now and an XF). The early models seem to have slightly less power than my 98 for example and does slightly less MPG. But it's a fantastic drive. The spec is high and the car is very comfortable. I bought it to go touring round Europe and every mile is enjoyable. Obviously low/ mid milage examples are the ones to go for. They are all 5 speed automatics. Servicing and parts aren't too expensive and easily DIY maintained. The main issues with these cars however is rust. Even the best looking example could be rusting behind the front subframe or the rear chassis leg so give it a good check first. Other issues like gearbox faults can be potentially expensive and electronic faults (see the dashboard lights and display). All that said these are great affordable classics that look and feel amazing.
