How much space is there?

Naturally, because the Grand Cherokee is a big car, there’s plenty of space inside. Adults can sit comfortably in the second row, with generous legroom even for tall adults sitting behind tall drivers. Even models with glass roofs still provide good headroom.

In North America, a seven-seat Grand Cherokee L is available – but not in Europe or the UK.

Boot space and storage

Jeep says its boot area is rated at 471 litres, which is outclassed by almost everything else this size. The boot lip is quite high, for example, which is likely due to the Grand Cherokee’s plug-in hybrid system, which prevents a deeper boot area as the battery is situated behind the back seats.

This means that the Grand Cherokee has a smaller boot than a BMW X5 plug-in hybrid (500 litres), Range Rover Sport P400e (647 litres) or Audi Q7 TFSIe hybrid (650 litres).

Storage elsewhere is good. The centre console’s cubby is very large and deep, and there are small areas for bits and pieces elsewhere in the main central area. The door bins are small, however.

Is it easy to park?

Given how large and how boxy the shape of the Grand Cherokee is, let’s just say it’s a good thing that all models come with a good amount of parking aids as standard. The turning circle and the car’s visibility outwards are both only acceptable, meaning parking won’t be the easiest thing in the world.

Safety

The Grand Cherokee was awarded a full five-star rating from EuroNCAP in 2022, being praised mostly for its child occupant protection.
