Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.0 Limited 5d Auto (1996/P) Owner Review

Economy
Value
A lot of car and kit for the money (especially second-hand).
Costs
Servicing - Ouch! (60k service was better part of £700!); Petrol ouch too, but you wouldn't buy a 4-litre UV if you cared!
-
On the road
Driving
Very good road manners for a big off-roader. Less roll than I expected and surprisingly nimble - just a bit of vibration if you breach a ton. Feels smaller than it is, too.
Performance
It';s a big lump but it shifts - lag isn''t bad, change up is smooth but change down can be a bit brash with some lag.

Living with it
Reliability
It was four years old when I bought it and I've had it for a year, but not a single problem.
Image
Pretty solid image but more of them about these days. Face-lift model is prettier and rarer but not as purposeful.
Comfort
Loads of space everywhere and a well-thought-out interior. Seats comfortable and supportive, stereo more than adequate and decent room in the back even.

Security and Service
Security
No problems with alarm or immobiliser so far.
Service
Apart from the cost (main dealer) service has been better than from any other manufacturer / dealer I"ve used in the past.
