Value
Residual value is not a strong point of any Jeep, but the overall package stands in value per annum.
Costs
Taking advantage of a 2 year free servicing pack from Jeep has meant value for money in annual running costs. Insurance could be lower for the class of vehicle and MPG achieves well at an average of 26 combined.

On the road
Driving
On long journeys the Grand Cherokee handles the task well with an enjoyable ride for passengers. The Jeep suffers some time on bends with caution needed as to not overstep its handling limitations.
Performance
The Mercedes Engine and Drivetrain perform very well with masses of torque available for strong acceleration. Only gripe will be the 2.7 CRD engine is noisy and somewhat obtrusive.

Living with it
Reliability
A strong point of the 2.7 CRD is it's excellent reliability over the 6 cylinder / V8 petrol versions. Mercedes Engine and gearbox are very reliable.
Image
Image does not seem as strong as BMW or Mercedes from "The School Run" perspective, but believe the Jeep Grand Cherokee has a stronger off-road "rugged" image due to excellent advertising. Less of a "Chelsea Tractor" than the competition.
Comfort
A strong point for the Grand Cherokee. Seating is excellent and long journeys cause no discomfort for any passenger. Rear legroom would be the only point of concern.

Security and Service
Security
The security works well with no breech of security recorded. Red LED warning lights are well placed to protect the vehicle safely.
Service
Dealer costs are expensive, can be cheaper to service a Porsche!
