Summary
What does this car say about you?
Depends who you speak too. Its a proper off-roader. It isn't destroying the planet. Its also not as big/bulky as a lot of other 4x4s. Doesn't seem to generate the envy/anti 4x4 mobs that Range Rover does.
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
Never had a negative comment. Everyone loves the comfy seats. Looks really good when washed & Waxed. Even better when covered in mud.
Would you buy this car again and why?
Yes. Does everything we need really well. Ideal family car. Very good long distance cruiser. Is very very capable off -road (if you're brave enough to try it)
What are you likely to buy next?
Jeep Commander, maybe a BMW 5-series Touring.

Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Franchise
Did you buy this car new?
No
What price did you pay?
£18,000
When did you buy the car?
December 2005
Did you get a good deal and why?
Bought the week before Xmas. Always a good time to buy. Screen priced at £20,950 I got it for £18,000. Not bad for a car that was £34,000 2 and a half years previously.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
Needed a bigger car for a growing family. Although not a massive fan of 4x4s. However once I test drove it, it made total sense. Comfortable, roomy, well equipped. Ideal family car.
What was the dealer like?
Charles Hurst Belfast. Very professional service. Everything you would expect from a 'premium' product.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
Doesn't go round bends like a sports hatch, but you can hustle along a B road if you need to. Ideal for cruising on motorway, will do 70 all day long. Very, very comfortable. Rear seats are a bit short on leg room. Mercedes Engine and Gearbox. Good from a standing start and good mid range power. Quicker than a 2.5td Range Rover, leaves a Discovery TDV6 for dead. Round town - drops to 20mpg Motorway - 32mpg I get 2-3 mpg more if I use Shell V-power.
What's it like to park?
Can be difficult when backing up. But big wing mirrors help a lot, the steering lock is quite good, and despite its size is pretty maneuverable.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
Has been very good. Very well screwed together (in Austria). 4 new Goodyear Wrangler HPs cost £480 fitted. The High Pressure Fuel pump went =£800. Myltons in Bedford were excellent.
What's most practical about your car?
Enormous boot. Comes fully loaded with kit. Also came with CD changer, SatNav. I had tints and safety glass put in by PentagonTech.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
Infinty/Bose Stereo is excellent. Heated seats are great in the winter. As is the quadra-track when rescuing people stuck in the snow.
