Summary
What does this car say about you?
Up market country type
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
Big, brutish,
Would you buy this car again and why?
Probably not, the Mercedes unit is too rough. I really like the Jeep petrol engines but they are thirsty.
What are you likely to buy next?
I suspect i would buy a newer 3.0CRD even though the styling is a bit boxy. On the other hand another CJ7 may be on the cards. The brand values are great.

Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Franchise
Did you buy this car new?
No
What price did you pay?
£8,000
When did you buy the car?
January 2009
Did you get a good deal and why?
A reasonable deal. It was priced to the book value.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
I have a number of Jeeps and wanted the 2.7 CRD as it blended enough performance with some economy. I have long admired the Grand for its smooth looks
What was the dealer like?
Buying from a franchised dealer they sorted out a few niggles and provided a comprehensive warranty. However getting the spare key out of them and any service information is proving difficult, Stratstones in Cardiff is now closing.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
The Mercedes sourced engine is rough when cold. The road handling is smooth but corners can be a challenge as it rolls and there is little side support on the seats.
What's it like to park?
Parking sensors and a clear view make it a doddle to park.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
The elctronic accelerator was faulty when I purchased. Fixed without quibble.
What's most practical about your car?
The 4WD is superb. It just eats steep grassy slopes, snow and mud. I had the Cherokee which was not as smooth and a CJ7 which is agricultural. The Grand has the best 4WD
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
The automatic wipers are OK. However I did not buy it for gadgets. The sat nav is pathetically American.
