What does this car say about you?

It probaley says townie runaround who spends most of his time dropping his kids off at school. The fact that it is covered in mud though and lives on a farm probably says something different.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

Who cares! Seroiously i get the usual jibes about 4x4's until i inform them its gas powered and is exempt from the London congestion charge. Still during the heavy snow in Febuary it was me and my girlfiends Landrover that was driving around that Monday pulling people out of ditches!

Would you buy this car again and why?

Yes, i think its better looking then the new model, has a darker interior so less likely to show the muck. Also the price has fallen on these so much in the last few years that you can buy a luxury car with all these bells & whistles and still have some money left in the pot to run it (or convert it) its a real bargain!

What are you likely to buy next?

I have no intention of changing it!

    January 2007

Did you get a good deal and why?

I got a great deal off the back of a trade in.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

I wanted something large and able to go offroad when i needed it too.

    What was the dealer like?

Wouldnt touch a Jeep dealer with a brage pole!

    What's it like to drive?

It goes like a rocket when you need it too, and is equally relaxed and well poised at motorway speeds. You can do long distances with no problems whatsoever.

    What's it like to park?

I got rid of the standard stereo and put an Alpine unit in which has a reversing camera attached, so its a doddle.

Have you had any problems with the car?

I have had the warped front discs due to the calipers binding, but i found replacements and fitted them myself, and uneven tickover was cured by a new throttle position sensor. The most expensive fix has been replaceing the front suspension arms which failed, possibly due to vigerous off road driving (i live on a farm). But all in all it has been the most trouble free car i have owned.

What's most practical about your car?

The ground clearnce is great there are a few niggles which are just down to poor design, replacing the headlight bulbs requires a degree in engineering, drivers heated front seat is a common fail and unbelivaiably expensive to fix! But its big, plenty of visibility from the high up seating position, loads of room inside, cheap to run (i had an LPG conversion done), and extremely powerfull. It can pull a 2 ton trailer and i struggle to notice its there.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

As i said i had an LPG copnversion done when the fuel price was up around £1.20, it cost £80 to fill it up and i got about 300 miles out of it, now it cost about £35 for the same mileage (the cost of the conversion was just under £2500 so i have made my money back and the road tax is down to £170/year. The tow hook is the one accesory i could not do without.
