Airbags, stability control, traction control and a tyre pressure monitor are fitted to all Grand Cherokees. The car also benefits from ‘roll-over mitigation’ which reduces power applies a short burst of braking to the appropriate wheel if sensors detect a situation where the car might roll over. It is fitted with Isofix child seat mounting points and was awarded a four star rating by Euro NCAP.

There’s room for five adults over short distances, though the rear passengers may feel the squeeze after an hour on the road. The decent-sized boot comes with a separate opening tailgate window for easier loading (especially useful in tight multi-storey car parks), while various storage compartments in the cabin mean the Grand Cherokee is suitably practical.
