What does this car say about you?

It says I buy a car that I WANT not because there are 100's on every road, it says I like something that looks like a bloke should drive it (sorry sexist I know but I bet many Ford Ka drivers say the same) and it says I wish I was American too....

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

All are really impressed because they all have safe options in Ford, Vauxhall or Toyota...mine has character and far exceeds and equivalent priced vehicle for kit you get and looks pricier than it really is.

Would you buy this car again and why?

To be honest I wanted the new Kia Sportage but right now the one I wanted was £10,000 over budget and a Ford Kuga was my other favourite but again it was £5,000 over budget but more than happy with the Jeep but as reviews state the servicing and reliability will eventually decide if I will stay with Jeep.

What are you likely to buy next?

    1st choice..Kia Sportage, 2nd..Ford Kuga..3rd Jeep Patriot 2.2 CRD Limited.

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Franchise

Did you buy this car new?

    No

    What price did you pay?

    £14,000

When did you buy the car?

    April 2011

Did you get a good deal and why?

Yes, a p/ex £400 above what I would have originally accepted and gave me cashback which paid for the years road tax and GAP insurance.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Loved the look of the Patriot and if the reviews were decent for it I was always going to purchase it once the dodgy interior was facelifted, and the reviews were good and the interior was 100 times better once completed.

    What was the dealer like?

Pleasant n Friendly at The Car People, not the most knowledgable on the car itself but always rang when they said they would and kept me informed.

  • Driving it

    What's it like to drive?

Great once your used to the deceiving size and the fact 1st gear must be drove in up the rev range, quick shifts in 1st to 2nd just gives terrible lag but otherwise a punchy albeit loud engine at low revs but smooth once your going, the big tyres do take getting used too but its a great enjoyable drive, ignore the snobby reviews about it being like a tank its no worse than a normal SUV its a budget SUV than outshines a lot of more expensive SUV's and looks far better than a lot of them.

    What's it like to park?

Not too difficult its not much wider than a Ford Focus or longer, it is deceiving as I said earlier the bonnet never seems to end and when you think your going to bump somebody you get out to check and see you actually could fit a trolley in the gap although parking sensors should really be a standard fit on all models as its hard to judge reversing properly yet but ive only had it a week and the steering is very light and easy to manouvre.

  • Living with it

Have you had any problems with the car?

Flat tyre on pick up date needed pumping up only to find a nail was embedded in it and what appears to be too much oil put in.

What's most practical about your car?

Its roomy interior, its ability to seat 5 adults and great boot space but I did have a 3 door Astra VXR before so this feels like Narnias wardrobe.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

Tinted windows, Heated seats are ace, Electric folding mirrors, Torch in boot, Superb sound system and Leather seats, really impressed.
