The Wrangler hasn’t been crash tested by Euro NCAP, but it does come with front airbags (which the Land Rover Defender doesn’t), ABS, electronic stability control, brake assist, traction control, seat-belt pre-tensioners and Isofix child seat anchor points. Jeep Wrangler safety then looks pretty good but security features include an alarm and immobiliser and remote central locking.

The boot area is acceptable on the five-door, though not exceptional and there’s not limited space in the three-door. Fold down the seats and it’s much better, with a flat and useable load area plus the seats also fold 60/40. The rear door splits, with the tailgate opening outwards and the rear screen opening upwards. Inside, the glovebox is small (the owner’s manual won’t fit inside) and although there is a large armrest box, there is no other significant stowage.

All cars are convertibles, though a three-piece hardtop is available as standard. It’s reasonably easy to remove, but it’s bulky and requires somewhere for it to be stored. A fabric roof is available as an option, but you’ll have to pay extra for.
