Kia EV6 verdict

Should you buy one?

Absolutely. The Kia EV6 is an exciting member of the EV club – and it’s even more attractive now that it’s been facelifted. Kia has made a great car even better by making it more convenient. It can now go further on a single charge, it has a more user-friendly interior and, when you do need to stop to top it up, you won’t be waiting around as long.

Kia hasn’t diluted any of the EV6’s strengths, either. It’s just as comfortable as it was before, its technology is still at the forefront of the class (despite being almost four years old now), and it retains the old car’s sharp driving experience. It seems the rest of the industry is still playing catch up because we’d still rather have an EV6 over newer rivals such as the Smart #3 or Volkswagen ID.5.

What we like

The EV6 is practical, comfortable and engaging enough to excite keen driving enthusiasts – even when fitted with Kia’s least potent rear-wheel drive powertrain. It’s also one of the most efficient electric cars we’ve ever tested and its 800-volt architecture is still leading the class in terms of charging speeds. Wrap all that up with Kia’s stellar seven-year warranty and it’s difficult to find a reason to not buy one.

What we don’t like

We’re not massively fond of the EV6’s touch-sensitive climate-control-cum-stereo-panel. And the ride might be a little firm for folk stepping out of a softer-sprung car like a Mercedes or Volvo. But that’s about it. It won the Parkers 2024 best large family car award for a reason, you know.
