Kia Picanto 1.0 GS 5d (2004/04) Owner Review

Economy
Value
It has all been said for the Picanto. You cannot get more for your money. Although if you want a gs in a particular colour you may have to wait.
Costs
Economy - Just got back from a Dundee to Manchester slog at 75-80mph all the way, with luggage and 3 up - still managed 45mpg. Hasn't been serviced yet as it is only 1 per year. MP3 player would be better with rear speakers - I'll fit them one day!

Driving
As good as you get in a small car. Very positive drive, gear change, clutch all easy. Braking is incredible - smooth and as immediate as you need. Hardly any wind or engine noise at speed. Can be some road noise.
Performance
Better than I expected. Will pull up motorway hills at over eighty and good for 90mph.

Living with it
Reliability
Malaysian, modern. No problems yet and do not expect any. Unlike my 306, Golf, my work 307, my work Xsara. I've really gone off european cars.
Image
Yes I'm a bloke, and it is not a bloke's car. It would look cute with a nose on the grill and a couple of pink fluffy ears on the roof. Want to look flash and be fast? Get a motorbike. I did.
Comfort
Hundreds of miles on the motorway in reasonable comfort. Room inside is okay. Boot is with 2/3 rear seat split is flexible. Boot with seats upright is tiny, with seats down is BIG.

Security and Service
Security
Central locking of course. Wish I could stop the wife locking her keys in the car!
Service
No services yet, but dealer has politely kept in touch.
