Kia ProCeed (2008 - 2012) 1.6 3 (10/09-) 3d Owner Review
Want to know everything there is to know about this car?
In their own words
I love the design – there are not many ProCeeds on the road. 1.6 petrol engine is powerful enough and is particularly suitable to be converted to LPG. The engine has got chain-cam so it is easier to maintain. I converted the car into LPG system and can do 270 miles on 40 litres (full tank) of LPG (average cost for 40 litres LPG is £21 [ July 2017]). It is of course with fairly dynamic driving, with slower driving style I can do over 300 miles. I think this would be equivalent of around 72mpg. The LPG tank was installed in the spare wheel’s well. The boot is large and there is enough space for shopping or luggage. Very practical car that can be used as a family car. Reliable and reasonable costs of maintenance. I like the fully retractable side mirrors and hatchback functionality. I dislike the driver seat – was difficult to find right and comfortable position. I bought a cushioned cover seat that resolved the issue. The interior design is very practical and materials are of a decent quality for this class of a car. Half leather seats. The ProCeed is lacking good sound insulation and can be noisy when driving over 75mph. I solved this issue by installing soundproofing layer of light foam directly on the metal floor of the car boot and the hatch’s door. Generally, the car is of decent quality and most important is very reliable. Driving is enjoyable and the engine is powerful enough. The car is lacking is some areas (sound proofing, driver seat adjustments) but those can be amended fairly easily and with minimal costs. I would recommend the 1.6 petrol Kia ProCeed but not the 1.4 petrol as the 1.4 is too weak.
How reliable do you find the car?
The ProCeed is a very reliable car. The vehicle I bought was not used for around two years so obviously I had to do change the standard consumable items (oil, wiper blades, pollen filter etc). The front brake pads were changed as they were worn out when I bought the vehicle. The previous owner changed the rear brake discs and pads so no issue there. Bigger issue was broken clutch of the air conditioning pump due to which air con stopped working. I bought a second-hand pump for £20 (from Kia Ceed 2010, all the engine parts fit from Ceed as it is the same engine) and swapped the pump’s clutch – works as new now. I changed the alloy wheels from 17” to 16” (bough from a car salvage, the 16” are from Kia 2015 model, including as new Michelin tyres, paid only £300). The drive on the 17” was too uncomfortable in my point of view.Does the car do everything you expected it to do?
The 1.6 petrol engine is powerful enough to get the car moving swiftly. It does not have super sport performance but I am not expecting this from 126bhp engine. The attractive design and price compensate the lack of sport performance. General the driving is enjoyable, there is USB socket and AUX to connect your mobile to the radio system. Very practical and minimalist design of the cabin. It is my first ever 3 doors car. Surprisingly it is very spacious and practical. More space in front and rear compared with standard Ceed. Folding rear seats adds even more practicality.About their car
