Kia ProCeed (2008 - 2012) 1.6 CRDi 2 3d Owner Review
Want to know everything there is to know about this car?
In their own words
It cost me £1500 as a 7 year old car high mileage car, in not good cosmetic condition. Looks fab in silver under street lighting. I didn't plan on keeping it for long just needed something cheap, reliable and suitable for the commute to work. 6 years later I still have it and still enjoy driving it. It's very good for long runs and the 12 mile commute. Okay for town driving albeit not so economical. It no rally car but handles country hills with ease. I can't see myself parting with it, just wish I'd spent more and bought one that was in better cosmetic condition. I very good all round 3 door hatch back.
How reliable do you find the car?
I've owned the car for 6 years, and in that time it's had a new clutch, new brake discs and pads, new hand brake cable, new springs on both front sides. The car had some rust and lots of stone chips 6 years ago and now it's a bit worse with more rust popping up on the panels and subframe. The engine & gear box have been rock solid and still has the original chain. Slightly ashamed to admit that in all these years I've only changed the oil once; it's had a not so well cared for life but has held up well. Electrics have been okay, albeit an intermittent issue with the central locking. Has issues with condensation inside but no ovbious leaks.
Does the car do everything you expected it to do?
The 1.6CRDI U engine is a gem and responds well to a heavy right foot. More refined than diesels of old. It doesn't like been labored at low revs and the turbo doesn't do anything below 1500. I like the gear change. The car is sit quite low down which helps with the handling, but the suspension and tyre are designed for pot holes not corners. Cheap to run £30 tax, economical, yet doesn't feel slow.
