Kia 2011 Rio

In their own words

I have done 22000 miles in the past year in my Kia Rio. Driving in the Highlands it is obvious that the car struggles with hills, overtaking just isn't an option as in often I can't outpace trucks unless I drop a couple gears and thrash the engine. I don't care about this though, it is economical which is good.

What I care about it is a fuel tank weeping fuel though pinholes on a car only just turning 11 years old, or the engine which since I bought it has routinely lost almost a litre of oil per 1000 miles, likely damaging the catalytic converter as at the moment the car would "fail it's exhaust emissions by quite a large margin"

These two issues are looking at writing the car off as a new Kia tank has been priced at £660, and will be a £1000 fitted. Garage has not yet priced the catalytic converter as I am going to run cataclean through a tank this weekend and see if I can get the emissions cleaned up. All 4 brake disc guards are so badly rotten they basically fell off when i touched them.

Disappointing for a car that comes with a seven year warranty to have these faults not long out of warranty.

Lovely car to drive otherwise, only other maintenance I have done is oil changes at 8000-9000 miles, brakes and tyres which are all perfectly reasonable.
