Kia Sedona Estate (1999-2006) running costs and reliability
Miles per pound (mpp)
Fuel economy
Forget the V6 if fuel costs are a concern – it’s thirsty (especially so in auto mode). Kia dealers usually offer competitive parts and service costs.
Sedona performs fairly badly on the eco front. With an average of 229 g/km CO2 across the range, its emissions are a little high for a people carrier. However, it’s worth noting that the line up has a high number of diesel models, bringing the average down and giving buyers more choices of low-emission versions. Diesels typically produce less CO2 than petrol engines with similar power outputs.
The range is not very frugal, averaging 32 mpg.
Build quality on early cars was only so-so, especially inside, but this 1was cleared up on the later cars. Interior materials can feel flimsy and it’s possible – that under heavy family use – they could easily break. Lacks the upmarket feel that you get from a Renault Espace or VW Sharan. But it is much cheaper, after all.
