Pros & cons
PROS
Family-sized fun in a compact package
CONS
Rather crude; not up to the real rough stuff
Kia Sportage (95-03) rivals
Overview
The Sportage is a cheap and compact 4x4 that suits families with off-road needs but are restricted by budget. Despite the thirsty engine, it’s much cheaper than most rivals – though the poor interior and equipment list does reflect the low price tag – and was Kia’s first off-roader to be released in the UK. On the whole, it’s a cheap way of entering the compact 4x4 market, but as a genuine off-roader it doesn’t quite measure up to the big boys.
