Summary
What does this car say about you?
I need a lot of car for my money and am not a badge snob.
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
They like its looks and quality of the cabin in particular.
Would you buy this car again and why?
Yes. The build quality is excellent and does not appear to be 'built to a price'. It's road manners and performance for a crossover/suv doing 500 mixed miles a week 4 up plus a bootful of items is the best in all the many cars I've had before.
What are you likely to buy next?
I believe an all new Sporty may be out in a couple of years and it will be good to compare it to it's sister ix35 at that time and maybe consider the Yeti which seems to fit my lower end budget but may meet my higher end specification wants.

Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Franchised
Did you buy this car new?
Yes
What price did you pay?
£22,000
When did you buy the car?
July 2014
Did you get a good deal and why?
Not too much extra off but this special edition is already well loaded for less than the equivalent '3 nav' model which is £1k more.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
Needed higher ground clearance to cope with rough London streets on my 80 mile round commute with 3 other 'big' people onboard.
What was the dealer like?
Busy, hence no real bargaining power for me. Courteous and business like, knowledgeable and willing to give time.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
Takes rough urban roads in its stride and smooth on the motorway. Although only a 1.7crdi it has enough when needed and returns me over 49mpg.
What's it like to park?
Good sized door mirrors, a 7" rearview screen and audible sensors make backing in easy. Forward sensors would have been nice, but I just flash my full beam and judge from that.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
2600 miles covered in 6 weeks with no problems although I just need to drop the car in to have the handbrake adjusted - not a problem at all.
What's most practical about your car?
Ride height over london's many, varied speed humps whilst fully loaded. The 'command' driving position which is also very comfortable.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
Reversing camera and sensors.
