In their own words
Bought a 4-month-old Automatic Sportage 2, 1.6CRDi Mhev. At first, everything was fine until January of the following year. At just over 18000 miles the automatic clutch went. The dealership wanted £1800 from me just in case it was something I had done to break it. I don't quite know what I could have done to break it being an automatic, so I got it relayed to an alternative. It took 6 weeks in total to get it repaired. I thought I had just been unlucky as it was barely a year old so thought nothing more of it. Then 6 days later an awful noise started coming from the engine. I went to the dealership and they weren't even bothered to get a technician to hear the noise as I didn't know if it was safe to drive or not. All they did was to book me in 4 weeks later to be looked at. I left the dealership and not even half a mile from them I lost all compression. The engine had died completely. I got it relayed back to the dealership and they couldn't have been less bothered. Kia dealerships in my opinion are the worst for customer service and empathy. I was given a collection date of the end of June/July, bare in mind this was the first week in March. I contacted the finance company and after corroborating everything I had experienced bought the car back from me. The Sportage Diesel engines are known to have this fault, some sprocket fails and kills dead the engine requiring a very expensive rebuild from the bottom up and the crazy thing is, they haven't got a cure yet. Anyway, Im going to get a Ford. Good riddance to Kia, their dealerships and their cars.
